What my eyes see

One of my photographer friends once asked me how I had developed my photography, my eyes…

My simple answer is: I do not really know… All I know  (I said to him) is that since I can recall, I just see the world in frames. I am framing what I see, almost ALL the time. And I frame almost everything… textures, shades, colours and mostly things / People / whatever that I find beautiful, which results also in me trying to surround myself of beautiful things.

I do not consider myself an expert (almost the opposite, really), nor a “professional artist” or nothing like that, I just find my practice of seeing things and portraying them, fascinating. And I love every second I spend portraying things that I find interesting or attractive, it feeds my soul, my heart, my eyes, my life. To me, every second I spend doing this exercise is worth a lifetime, and that is enough reward.

Below, some of my instagram photos. I love instagram because it allows you to play with different options quick and easy. You can see more of my photos here.

Hues, intense hues

There is a word that slips from my mouth almost everytime I talk about colours (hues), it is: inteeenso*. It is a kind of joke, even if I mean a subtle baby pink hue, (baby pink is one of my favourite delicate hues, you can tell by Nefelibata advert to your right) I will still say inteeenso. I will also suggest a rojo intenso (intense rouge?) at the most unexpected place/ocassion/motive.

So, you know, I love playing with hues, you can tell when I play with my photographs’ hues and intensity…

Expression of the imagination

Style ExpressionI was going through my India archives and I found this photo. This photo was taken behind the Taj Mahal itself. What I particularly like about this picture is how it shows three people of the same nationality (not me, of course) and yet with their own style and expression. This brings me to the words style and fashion. Many people when faced with the word fashion get all this discourse about superficiality and consumerism, I would rather use the word style. To me “Style is not a display of wealth but an expression of imagination” (1).

Still life on roses version 2

Still life on roses version 2

I love the milestone in the history of art that still life represents, the style, the composition, the creation and the ability of artists to portray that composition.

Variations on the road

I love it how a picture can be different pictures depending on the variations of its tones, shades, and colours.

I took this pic on the road, while driving. I love how my eyes have been trained all these years to see the world in frames, frames that are captured on the go many times. Instants that will last forever in my mind.

Blue inspiration

Sometimes visuals fight the usual colours given by nature and by nature I love the result: blue.
