Ever felt that the books choose you, as opposed to you choosing the books?
I was on humanitarian mission in Chile in 2010, in a city near Concepcion, the epicenter of the earthquake of that year.
It is no secret I love reading, so I am starting a series called Books I ♡.
I love this book because of its simplicity (very Chanel), the insight it has on Coco Chanel and her spirit, and of course wonderful photography.
The book explores the camellia (Chanel flower on the cover), the Chanel suit, jewelry (BEAUTIFUL and breathtaking pieces there), the fragrances and the little black dress. Going from past to present.
To me it is fascinating to read a book that many people would call on “fashion” but that really is much, much more than that, it is part of the world’s history, of who we are today in terms of how we dress and how we think, how we move and how we behave, how this revolutionary woman changed the aesthetics for women and why we are not wearing the oppresive corsets these days…
Enjoy!
(and read the last bit at the bottom of this post)
I just got back from a retreat and it was total bliss.
I can recall three times when I felt like I feel today (total peacefulness, joy and peace). When I was in high school and we went on a retreat in Santa Rosa de Ocopa convent (up in the highlands of Peru), last year in India, and now, in Pachacamac, Lima.
